I agrea the Durango is ugly and also can't understand why the Hemi Powered Version is such a dog (or so i hear). As far as the new Dakota...i actually kinda like it's new style. Anyways I personaly don't think the Dakota is a Practical buy anyways. I've gone priceing on the previous models and believe it or not they cost just about as much as the full-sizers. In some cases more even! The only reason i could see anyone buyen a Dakota is to either save room or to have the power-to-weight Ratio.
I seen a commercial with the hemi Grand Cherokee, good idea IMO. I like the Grand Cherokee, I think it is a far better looking vehicle than that Durango thing. Dakota is still ugly. The tail lights look like something straight off a GM production line...

Not trying to rag on Dodge trucks but they never talk about the trucks themselves, just about the optional hemi engine. Makes it sound like that's all they have to offer, just an engine.
Even though I would never buy one the new Ram looked pretty good compared to what gm offered (still cant touch the F-series), that being said I don’t know what those Chrysler guys were smoking when they redesigned the Dakota, that truck looks terrible. It’s like they crash tested the old Dakota and after it hit the wall they liked the way it looked, and then put it into production. It just gets annoying when those pseudo-hemi (the new hemi is not a true hemispherical engine-go figure) Rams rev up next to me at stoplights. Now I’m going to have to put up with Dakotas, Grand Cherokees, and Magnum’s. Oh Well.

The engine is all they have, and even with more hp/torque than the 5.4, the Dodge 1/2 still can't outwork the Ford 1/2 ton, and the Hemi is a joke in the 3/4 or 1 ton truck market.
Where am I wrong, there, buddy. Please point out the error in my statement. The Ford F-150 tows/hauls more than the Dodge 1500. What part of that is wrong, buddy? I don't understand how people can be presented with facts and just say `that's stupid` and somehow still believe that they are right, even when they have NEVER disproven any of the facts at all in any way, but somehow cutting someone else personally is supposed to make them. Here's a fact, the F-150 tows more than the Ram 1500. How is calling me slow supposed to make you right and me wrong? Doesn't make the Ram tow any more (it's still behind the Ford, no matter what you say about me). That's not an opinion, it's not open for argument, it's a fact on paper, numbers given to us by Ford and Dodge as to what the trucks can safely do and what they are designed to do, and the F-150 is designed to do more. Period. Now, cuss me, and the F-150 will still tow more.

Have you driven both? I have an was FAR more impressed with the HEMI. Have you driven both with a trailer on? I have been in the driver seat just part of a joke i guess. When setting up branding corrals my neighbor Mitch gave me his 04 5.4 halfer to pull 4000 Lb. Panel trailer/chute to the corrals. The 5.4 pulled pretty good (i mean its only 4K). And when we were done there was the same trailer/chute only this time there was a 2K bull in the chute and Mitch bet my other buddy a case of Light that his HEMI couldnt pull the trailer out of the bottom we were in (pretty steap hill) and since i drove the 5.4 the first time(and was the most sober) i drove the hemi with the trailer on. Not only did it pull out of the bottom with ease (for a 1/2, its not PSD or CTD at all) and back to the house it pulled better than the 5.4 did w/out the bull, now this was last spring so it might be a little different now but thats my input to the situation. SCREW ratings/specs and whats said it commercials, i believe what i witness.
What, 6,000 pounds? Wow, a half ton can tow that! If I had a CAR that wouldn't tow 6k, I'd trade `er in that day. My boat weighs more than that. What matters is (to those of us who don't tow things that we could tow with a Ranger and who care about being legal and keeping our warranties valid) maximum trailer weight. The F-150 tows more, deal with it.
Yes, I have driven both. I thought the Hemi had better highway acceleration (without a trailer, had to stand on it to keep speed up with a 7,800 lbs. trailer), but the 5.4 was way smoother, felt more refined and subtle than the Hemi. I think the Hemi would be a great engine in a car, but it really doesn't impress me in a truck, trailer or no. I like not having to floor it to get up to speed.
I have driven New 1/2 ton Fords, Dodges, and GMs....Dodge is the best 1/2 ton truck IMO, Ford 1/2 with 4.6 or 5.4 is a sled, GM 4.8 or 5.3 is even worse. For a HALF TON, the Dodge is best, as long as it has the 5.7, becuase the 4.7 is a flat out joke....Now throw the 6.0L GM in there, hands down the BEST gas v8(naturally aspirated) available on the market now....
