OK, so my 1996 PSD is pretty hard to start. I've figured out that some, or most, of the glow plugs are not working. I've also figured out that it is better to turn the ignition all the way off before attempting a restart - at least in my truck it does not appear as if the glow plugs stay warm with multiple re-start attempts.
So, my truck is hard to start.
I think the glow plugs are under the valve cover - but other than that, I'm not sure how easy or hard it might be to replace them, or even what the cost might be.
I've not figured out how to "search" this site, so I'm asking what has probably been asked again. Is this an easy job? Anyone have a cost estimate on glow plugs?
Click HERE to go to an excellent how to. If you wish I have these instructions saved as an MS Word document with a couple minor updates along with my experience when I did the job a few years ago. If you would like me to forward them to you click on my user name and send me an eMail with GLOW PLUG INFORMATION in the subject and let me know what eMail address you would like me to use. I will reply with the attachments.
JC, I noticed you may not have eMail priveleges yet so I sent you an eMail through this site. If you will reply to that eMail I will reply to yours and attach the MS Word documents mentioned above.
