ok heres my problem. I have a 83 ford f-100 with the inline 6. I cannot get it to do anything by the ignition and I mean nothing its like there is not a battery in the truck (brand new battery). Now I can "jump" the solinoid switch with a screwdriver and it will fire up but as soon as I l pull the screwdriver off it dies like I turned the key off. help me please
i know this one, it is one or 2 of the fusable links. they are inline fuses that connect the the hot terminal of the solinoid. there should be an orange rubber bootlike thing on a couple of wires and they say "fusable links". what i do is strip a little bit of wire on each side of the fusable link and use a test light or some sort of electronic device to tell you that something is shorted or blown.
its not the ignition switch I tried that havent tried the fusible links anymore info on where to find these would be helpful also I have no lights or ding from the doors nothing at all.
that is definately the fusable links, my mustang did it. look on the positive post of the solinoid, you will see a couple of smaller wires there with big orange rubber things on them saying fusable link. i would just cut them out and replace them with a buss fuse. i can try to find a picture for you
they may look like these, where it looks as if shrinkwrap was used over a regular wire, it says fusible link in white letters. http://www.chaosboyz.nl/images/techn...e/ampere18.jpg but i think you have the other kind which i am still looking for a pic of.
also do you have a diagram or can you explain which wires go where on the solaniod because I was not the one to hook it up and I want to be able to double check it.
