Need answer to simple problem on clutch change

My tranny is ready to come out except I can't figure out how to remove the shifter from the tranny. The Haynes I have shows a bolt that needs to be removed, but the one on mine is a stud with a nut on the side facing the engine. The nut comes off easily but I can't remove the shifter. And the stud is way to tight to remove. Any info greatly appreciated.

under the nut there are 3 small bolts that go through the mounting bracket (were the shifter meets the tranny) take the 3 screws out and the shifter will come up.. there is also a gasket that sets between the shifter and the tranny, it is a good idea to use some type of formagasket to seal it back up, don't want no leaks!
