I'm looking to "build" a nice, powerful 460. However, I'd like a head start. What year(s) 460's were the best, considering most power, but also the strongest and able to handle the most add-on HP and torque. Whatever year engine I get, not much is going to change beneath the heads. Thanks for any input.
the earlier ones are the most powerful. 69 rating was around 365 hp, 500ft lbs. torque. i think the bottom ends are all very stout in any year. the old ones are the hardest to fine though.
79-up blocks have more reinforcments in the lower block area.
This is why they needed smaller crankshaft counterweights (and therefore external blalancing)
