steering column is shot
How hard is it to rebuild a steering column? I can't find one with cruise and tilt at any wrecking yard.
Mine feels like the bearings are worn out, and the tilt won't stay in the position I like.
I tried doing a search on this topic but I can't find a search button anywhere.
My truck is a 1989 F 150 4x4.

It's really not that bad if you take your time and maybe take some digital photos as you go. Bearing should not be that difficult at all. Tilt could require parts and that may be dealer only. I have a '90 and just repaired the lower actuator in mine, it was broken, but not knowing how to do it I removed the whole freakin' thing from the truck. Read the (2) attached post and then if you have specific questions maybe I can answer some of them and if I get lucky maybe all of them. I'm no expert but I have done (1) and got it back together and it works. The search is down because of server upgrades I think.
