Well, im intrested in selling my truck and buying a ranger. The one im looking at is $900. The body is in good shape, transmition is "loose", clutch is stiff, e-brake doesnt work(cable is dangling) unknown mileage(over 100000), left turn signal doest work, btw its an 87 stx 2.9l 5speed, bucket seats, push button 4x4 that doesnt work(i can hear the relay go but no engagement) collapseed lifter, very good codition exterior, dead state inspection. K, now that i got that stated, my qusetion is is the money worth the product and the hassel.

Help with purchasing a ranger

It all depends on your mechanical abilities. That collapsed lifter could mean other serious internal problems:-(

Thanks for using FTE!

Not sure how you know about the lifter, the 2.9s are known for the upper valve train noise, this can be caused by a clogged oil pump pickup screen or worn cam bearings. The worn cam bearings can be caused by coolant in the oil from a cracked head(s) which is also something the 2.9s are known for. Other than these two issues the 2.9 is a very good engine, you just can't overheat them.
