Have any of you experienced your rear leaf springs breaking? I have a 2000 F350 and I noticed last night that both rear leafs have some pieces missing. I don't carry anything that heavy in it and while I do tow things it is not something I do with any consistency. Very strange and costly. Around 600 to replace them. SIGH..........
I am the first owner and I can say that I have never overloaded it so it's got me. I have been driving some rough roads but that should not have caused it.
They are the same springs, original in fact. Not sure what you mean by axle wrap.
They haven't seen it yet. I am going to ask them though. The place I go to has been very good to me so if there is something wrong I am sure they will take care of me.
I called a place that does nothing but springs for trucks and they ended up being more expensive than the dealer. I was shocked because stuff at the dealers is always more. Maybe they are catching on............
Spring wrap is the axle twisting as the truck accelerates. It causes the leaf springs to flex up on one side and down on the other side of the axle, much like holding your arms out in a doorway and turning your body. Your arms stay still, but your shoulders pivot and allow your body to move. Springs will flex at the axle and allow the axle to move.
