speedometer cable help

Hello, I'm still building up my '53 F100. I've installed VDO gauges, I have a C6 Trans, and the original speedo cable and housing from the C6. My question is, the Speedo cable assembly seems to have a clip on end for attaching to the speedometer, that won't stay on the VDO gauge, which appears to be set up for a screw on attachment. Anybody encounter this? And can I somehow splice the cable housing to put on a screw on end? Thanks again, Ken

Doesn't the C-6 have a screw on end at the transmission? If so, the original cable from the truck will probably work.

Ken,

If you are working with screw-on ends on both ends, check with NAPA. They have a universal speedometer cable and housing that will work. Also, 55-57 Chevys and many other older vehicles before 1970 or so used this type of cable. I used a 57 Chevy cable in a 29 Ford with a TH350 and VDO speedometer and it worked fine.
