Tapping noise

I have a 98 Ranger and it makes a tapping noise all the time I took it to a guy and he listen to it and told me it was afuel injector tapping does anyone if this could be true or what it might be and it dont sound like a lifter the trucks only got 70000 miles on it.

tapping could be quite o few things

where do you hear it coming from
mechanic says such but the owner know his/her rig

You cant here it under the hood but you can hear it through the fender well and under the truck!!!!!!!!

Could it be an exhaust leak, since you can hear it better from underneath or the sides of the motor.

Check the catalytic converter for a loose heat sheild. Check all the exhaust heat shields if it's not the Cat.

I think it might be a exhaust leak you can here it from under the truck but its really loud through the passenger side fenderwell I have a new magniflow cat on it only 4 months old!!!!!!!
