E40D?or?AOD?
i have a 1990 fullsize bronco it has a 4.9liter with a push button overdrive on the dash. if it is a E40D what can i do to prolong it's life ans performance?? thank you for any and all advice!

If your Bronco doesn't have one get the Rapid Cool from Hayden it's been top rated in almost every performance test.

Get the 10,000 lbs one. It's fairly easy to install.
I also use Mobil One synthetic ATF.
If you get so motivated you can install a higher capacity deep tranny pan with magnetic drainplug too. I use this one from PML.

Then to monitor the tranny temperature I installed a Cobalt tranny temp gauge from Autometer.
These guys had the best price, other than Ebay.

I think that's about all you can do for it. It's a big pain in the butt to replace a Bronco tranny, so good routine maintenance is very important to the life expectancy. Good luck.
