i have a 1990 fullsize bronco it has a 4.9liter with a push button overdrive on the dash. if it is a E40D what can i do to prolong it's life ans performance?? thank you for any and all advice!
Cooling, cooling, cooling. If you don't already have one, get a tranny cooler (don't rely on the one that just goes through the radiator). You might also consider a secondary filter; there's a picture of mine in my signature link on the Bronco.
if you have the pushbutton OD on the dash then you have the E4OD. cooling is the best thing and anual service as well. B&M makes a nice cooler that mounts in front of your radiator.
I think that's about all you can do for it. It's a big pain in the butt to replace a Bronco tranny, so good routine maintenance is very important to the life expectancy. Good luck.
