Cam bolt backing out

Cam bolt backing out

Question for you guys. I was on the highway cresting a hill when my truck started chugging violently. So immediately I hit the clutch, but not after 3 chugs. Engine died right away and I thought it was a dead fuel pump. Turns out the my cam bolt backed out the the fuel pump eccentric was just flopping around. I fixed it with a new bolt and torqued to spec. Is there a reason this could have happened? I had maybe 500 miles on the engine and I know I torqued the original bolt to spec.

Did you put locktite on it? My rebuild book says to. Also, did you torque it to 45 ft-lbs? I know that's what my book says is the spec.

I didn't use locktite originally, but I did the second time. I know for a fact that I torqued it down both times. I can't see any reason that it would have backed out, especially since i used the "special" compression washer. Is there a chance that my cam could have walked on me?
