No. Your fuel pump is on its way out. But just to give you an Idea mine lasted 6 months after it started whining till it quit.

This is a routine topic. Some people have had the experience that frdkpr has had and the whine has been a prelude to an early demise of the pump. Others have had what they considered an abnormally loud pump for years and had no problems. Both my 92 and my 93 had/have what I consider to be a clearly audible "whine" from the pump and I have yet to replace a fuel pump.

My fuel pump died around 135k -- I'd say if you're in that range and if it's the original pump, replace it if there is a convenient time for that.

Thank You for the feedback, I had to go to the dealer today for my ABS Light Staying on of course it had to be the pump $1700 later.
Asked about the fuel pump they stated that some of the fuel pump are unusally loud.
Who knows.

What did you pay $1700. for ? Man, I never thought anything on the ABS system ran any more than a few hundred dollars.

My mechanic says Ford is the only one with the software to program the ABS
Went to a few Mechanics no one would touch it.

1700 bucks? Ouch!!!!!! Bet the motor was bad, and I bet ford doesn't sell it by its self so you have to buy the whole unit.

You have to buy the whole unit new from Ford at least there is a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty even if you could buy it rebuilt try to find someone to install it I couldn't find anyone that was willing to touch it. They all refered me back to Ford.

my fuel pump just died...139,000 95 351... dealer wants 580.00 parts and labor...seems ford has some sort of rewiring for the pump..as far as the whining,of the fuel pump, i noticed as the miles went on the whining stopped...so might be something to consider...LOVE MY BRONCO

I think this post is all screwed up because I am seeing posts where a couple f us commented on another post but it gets put in this one. Looks like Admin need to get busy and correct a few things. This post has fuel pump and abs comments.

Just a thought !
