aftermarket mirrors

Hey fellas, Have any of you insalled those afermarket mirrors that Auto Zone or Pep Boys sells? Were they a good fit on your '53-'56 F-100's? I've seen a variety of styles at these auto parts and was just wondering if you guys think they are worth the money. I do not have the original mirrors. suggestions are welcome. Thanks. How about them Yankees!!

Bought original style for my 55, one from Carpenter years ago and one recently from Mid-Fifty's. Both are excellent. Carp one even had Ford logo stamped on chrome face.

Sorry, I bought the repros from Sac Vintage Ford. I think they are made by Capenter! Most aftermarket mirrors I have seen on old trucks were not holding up very well. They looked faded and loose. Good luck, John

Did the F3's come with the 13-18 inch straight, extendable mirror supports or with the smaller repro curved type?

I am looking for a set of the original 13-18 long mirrors supports.

All the pics in my Ford Truck Book by Wagner show a long straight black mirror not the short kind.

Would one of you mind posting a pic of the repro. I have after markets, camper style and would like to swap if it won't leave too many holes.

I purchased mine repos from Bob Drake, probably the same as what Dennis Carpenter and Mid Fifty sells.

Have used the Auto Zone/Advance Auto big rectangular plastic chrome mirrors on 2 F100s, my panel and my pickup. Work great; look really good with the lines of the trucks. Look factory, kind of...not out of scale. Easy to install from the outside (no inside work needed). Would recommend them to anyone. Have also installed the factory stock mirrors on a few F100s also; just depends what style you want. If you want to actually see well with a daily driver, I'd go with the big ones.
