Brake break-in?

Just got new pads & powerslot rotors on my 03 EB. Is anyone aware of special break-in procedure for new pads/rotors? Some info I read says to drive "gently" for first 200-500 miles...others say perform series of stops to bed the pads...any thoughts?

I hadn't either. Both Bendix & Hawk have instructions on their website about the importance of burnishing new pads & how to do it.

Never have heard of that?? If that is the case, then my Local Ford dealer has once again failed to do their job correctly by either performing the break in procedure as part of the road test or informing me of it.

I dare anyone to perform this test on a 1998-2000 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable! If you do it, you warp the brake rotor before it ever leaves the shop!! But this happens anyway within 7 days of new rotor and pad installation. Manufacturers engineering defect, that Ford, Midas or myself cannot get rid of.

I thought the same thing when I read the Bendix info. Seems like their procedure would generate quite a bit of heat very quickly.
