new motor

Where is a good place to buy a new motor for my truck? I just want a stock short block.

its a 360 but i was told to replace it with a 390. 4 speed. 4wd

Do you have a Kragens where you live? They sell longblocks for $1188.00.Just recently put one in a truck replaced a 360 with a 390.The total cost with core charge was 1609.00 but got 200 back when turned in core and that is with additional warrantee of 5 yrs 50,000 miles.I asked him today and he said it runs strong. Came with a melling HV oil pump also. Hope this helps.

well I found the problem....never use teflon tape on sending unit threads..it does not connect well therefore bad reading.

Couldn't you just get it rebuilt locally for about half that? I noticed in a spec sheet that the 360 and 390 have the same bore. The blocks also look alike. I'm guessing that the only thing different is the stroke. Maybe longer rods and/or different crank. I thought you could get these things rebuilt for $500-600.
