Exclamation Help Me !!

I just bought a 1992 F150 Supercab and I want to replace the exhaust on my truck. The stock exhaust is rusted out. I have the 4.9l and love the engine so far. I just want to upgrade what I can. My question is what brand hi flow cat is best and should i run sraight pipe or a flowmaster or gibson exhaust. Please answer me like you would an idiot because I AM!! I like to do what i can myself but i am a beginner and am building my knowledge as i go. Any suggestions for my truck would be appreciated. Mainly i want to upgrade perfomance a little before i work on rust repair and getting knew paint job.
Thanks alot!!
