Trailer Wiring

OK Now that mine is working fine , my girlfriend's truck has a couple of issues. She is going to be pulling the camper this time since I am trailering the horses. But she only has the 4 pin flat wire coming from her truck. (Factory).
Now I have an extra OEM harness that I could put in place, but I would rather not. The camper does have its own battery that charges from the towing truck, but with her 4 pin flat conector...nothing there for it. The camper has the 6 pin round connector anyway. I was going to just take the trailer end of a 4 pin connector and wire that to a truck end 6 pin round making my own adapter. Since her harness doesn't supply the wire to charge the camper battery, where could I hook up a wire from the truck to charge the camper battery? I am going to be putting in quick disconnects so whatever I put on hers wont be supplying power unless I actually connect it to its source. I was looking under the hood, on the firewall passenger side where the battery goes to, there is a 2 post thing, and the bottom post goes to the battery. 12+volts without engine running...14+ volts with it running. Would this be a good spot or am I looking at causing problems using this for the charging source? Hers truck is a 2002 standard cab with the 4.6 Triton.

My 2000 has a power wire but,

Under rear of truck there is large black loom. the batt charge wire and reverse
are there. i think it was black about 10 guage.

Problem, this wire is only hot with key on maybe even running, i forget.
Real problem was my under hood fuse box was missing a relay!!
I saw in owner man it was charge relay i believe.
I put in a standard relay you can get anywhere and all is fine Now.
I forgot the electric brake wire is also there run for you.
The factory harness you have is probably for the e brake under driver dash.

Luck to ya

Well since I am leaving in the morning....I really need to get this done. Is there a wiring diagram that I can look at to be sure of the wires I am connecting? The factory harness I have it the other option for the towing package. She has the 4 pin flat, this replaces that harness and supplies the 7 pin large round.

After doing some checking in many forums...it seems that I need to make sure that relay/fuse #23 under the hood needs to be there. It is there so I swapped out the 4 pin harness for the 7 pin round and I will just go buy an adapter to a 6 pin round first thing in the morning. Hope it will work.
Thanks for the replys!
