Just a small question. I was told that the trans. off of my 390 would also fit the bolt pattern on a 460 is this correct? Both trans. and motors
are from the same year truck.
however, if the trans. is a standard, you may have to get the correct flywheel for the 460. as i recall, a friend went thru h### until a knowledgeable parts man pointed this out as the reason for the truck eating starter after starter after starter...
The 460 has the same bolt pattern as the 351M/400. The 390 has a different bolt pattern which is common to the FE engines 352,360,390,406,427,428.
Then there is the smallblock pattern that the 260,289,302,351W and 351C use.
u r right lxman. don't know what i was thinking, but it wasn't right. i gotta learn 2 think before i type. p.s. jasonmar, the engine the friend had trouble with was a 400.sorry
