Changed my oil about 3 weeks ago and filled to just over the min mark on the dipstick. Now my oil is at the max level and she STINKS at idle--this is an 04 motor with 10/23/04 build date. Anyone having problems with leaking injectors on this motor yet?? Already been through this once with my 03. Just now to 20K miles and don't want another experience with it. Only about 1200 miles on this oil change.
I just had mine in the shop 2 days ago and they are gonna replace #1 & #3 injectors. The sympton was rough idle when at a stop in gear. I to had the same problem with my old 03' Jan. build.
Tim, take a white paper towel, take out your dipstick and put a drop of oil on the paper towel. If you have fuel in the oil, you will see a lighter color ring around the oil drop. That is a quicky test. Get it over to Mac Haik. See Jason Norman, service advisor He is sharp and pays attention. See if you can get Johnny to work on your truck. He is a good diesel tech.
Steve--headed there Monday morning. Although the oil doesn't appear to have diesel in it or even smell like diesel, the oil level is up an inch on the dipstick in the last week. I very carefully changed the oil, recorded the amount, and noted the level on the dipstick. Took just over 13 quarts to get it in the extreme lower end of the crosshatches on the dipstick. Now it's overfull, missing, and the exhaust smells horrible! I'm tempted to pull a sample to send to blackstone before it goes, but with no fumoto valve it would be a severe pain and I don't want to remove anything from the engine so that service can see it just as it is.
