heater core???
i have a 78 f150 with a 460 and AC. it has the heater box under the hood. the other day i was driving and smelt coolant, its was dripping down on the floor. as i got closer to home the temp gauge shot up and i heard a hissing. when i opened the hood i saw i blew a heater hose so i let it cool and fixed it. when i filled it with coolant again i started it and turned the heat on. no leaks and it ran cool how it should. i cant figure out how the coolant got in the heater duct if the core seems to be fine still............anyone???????

If the coolant sprayed toward the box the steam/liquid shower could have penetrated the seam/seal enough to get into the box and cause the drip in the cab. Seen it before on one that blew near the clamp on the heater core end.

I had a similar problem on my 84 last year. If you haven't replaced the heater core on your 78, you might want to think about it. Mine wouldn't leak until I wound the engine up, but then it would fog the window. Heater cores are cheap, and not to time consuming to replace.
