OK, pp at my work (Electromotive inc.) are saying that a 86' Ford thunderbird 2.3L turbo coupe engine is a direct drop in into my 94' Ford Ranger Splash 2.3L. I want to know if anyone has done this before. If I can, i can get 200Hp easy. Plus any mods i do to the engine. Plus i want to know any tips and tricks i could do if this is really possible.

Sorry, i didn't see the other post made on this topic, but, i still have one more question.
Do i have to fully replace the engine? or can i just bolt on the T-Bird Turbo? Becuase, i thought you needed the whole engine becuase the T-Bird engine is set up for the turbo, and it can handle the higher pressures. Plus i know i don't need the wiring harness and sensors, i can get all that from my work for a nice discount. But anymore info on the topic would help me out GREATFULLY. Thanx.
im not sure about the direct bolt in with the t-bird eng. but you cant just add a turbo to a engine just like that and your right that t-bird is made for it i'd switch the whoel engine
as far as boltin up to engine mounts and tranny the 2.3 turbo engine would work fine. and you could actually put the turbo set up off of the t-bird and put it on the 2.3 ranger engine. it would work and you would have tons of power, but fer a very short time. id swap in the whole engine if i was you.
The turbo block and internals are beefer units to handle the turbo, but it is a direct drop in, of course you have to change the wiring harness to get all the correct connections as well as the computer. If you turbo a regular block it will haul butt, but not for long!!
A buddy did this swap into a 74 pinto, what fun! macs
