You take it off just like any other tailgate. Unhook the straps on each side, then open the tailgate half way. Lift up on the right side and when the right side is loose, slide the whole tailgate to the left. It should come completly loose. Ive taken mine off a million times..... P.s. dont let the spring assist fool you, its really heavy. Prolly 65- 75 lbs.
