I have a 1993 ranger XLT with the ABS light turn on in panel when I start the engine.
I was following the instructions that Ken send me about the rear brakes. Yesterday my mecanic expert told me: Hey, this truck don have abs brakes, but he dont know abut the abs light.
Any idea about this?
Normally cheapskate Ford would leave out the light bulb. In this case they may have left it in (or someone put one in) and the computer turns it on during the key on lamp test. If you do not have ABS remove the bulb.
Thanks for using FTE!

1989 and newer Rangers have Rear Anti-Lock Brakes. RABS. Starting in 1995, an optional brake system was front and rear anti-lock brakes or the standard brakes, RABS. If your light comes on, you can pull the blinking light codes for the RABS to see if the module is bad, but low brake fluid, etc will bring on the light. Rangers 1998 and newer might have had front and rear anti-lock brakes standard, depending on if they were 4x4 and when they were manifactured.
Since the light works, you probably have ABS brakes and your mechanic does not know what it looks like. I think on the 93 model it might be at the front of the vehicle and looks like a proportioning valve instead of a separate box towards the rear of the vehicle.
