Ground wire from 100 amp Alt.

I am wiring up my motor and the 351 motor came with a 100 amp alt. I am obviously keeping it. The alt. has two post's, one for the charging wire and one for the ground. Where would the ground wire attach??? The frame, the engine block with the battery ground, body, battery???? I know this should be posted in the electrical forum, be kind Mr. Moderator. These are my fellow Bronco owners!!

Um, not sure since the alternator casing/bracket is part of the NEG/ground to begin with. I am unclear as to why a separate ground wire would even be necessary unless its an isolated ground to the internal voltage regulator but it still doesn't make much sense. I'd be interested in knowing the correct answer here myself.

The motor is an "89" out of a E-250 or 350. I hear ya greystreak, the stock, original from the 302 required no external ground, grounded by mounting. This particular alt. has a ground stud on it. The book shows that this alt. is used on F-series and diesel's, it shows all external voltage reg wiring, everything including the ground, except the location of the ground. I would think that the grounding location on the block would be the logical choice. Roadkill ya got me on the 2G or 3G. I assume ya me 2nd Generation or third??

It sounds like it is the large case ford alternator. I converted my bronco over to this alternator from the small stock alternator about a year ago. I connected the ground post to the body next to where I mounted the external voltage regulator.

The only reason I can think of for needing a seperate ground would be to ensure that the voltage regulator and alternator are sharing a common ground connection, since they are located in two different locations.

That does sound like the large case 100amp alternator, that ground wire should be as big as the pos. wire from it, needs too be hooked up too either chassis body ect.
Those are tough suckers, they can take some abuse.
