I am just about to pull the trigger on a 1991 F-150 with the I6 motor. It needs a new driver side motor mount though. Any ideas on what kind of undertaking this is, does the motor need to come out to do it or can it be done in place?
hey, you can do it with a floor jack too. loosen all the bolts on the driver side, then the bottom mount to crossmember nut on the pass side. then u can jack up a lot easier.
I'm in the middle of doing mine. My '94 F250 I6 has the '93 mounts in it - no small confusion at the parts house. They're supposed to run fro '87-93. They have a little stud next to the threaded stud, so you don't put 'em in backward. I jacked mine up & used cribbing (wood blocks) as a backup to the jack. I'm changing out both. The transmission mount was already loose because of the busted mount (passenger side). Driver's side is a little easier to get at. So far it's pretty straightforward. Only problem I've had was needing a longer wrench.
I have 2 pix in my gallery; should be the same mount. If you need "before" pix, I have a few of those.
It's pretty straight forward as everyone said. I would change out both of them while in there though. Saves having to do it in the future. Good luck! Oh, and welcome to FTE!
