i just got my settlement check for my STOLEN 63. it came to about 800 dollars but would have been more if i'd kept my receipts. i would recommend keeping all your receipts in a safe place (one you can find later!). i know i'm going to from now on.
Sorry to here about your stolen truck. That has to be a bummer to see $800.00 only. Thanks for reminding us about the paperwork part of protecting ourselves. Rick
Bummer, Oldschool! Just last week I started puting my recipts in a case that has alphabetized folders. I got tired of looking all around the house for recipts for something I bought several months ago. Excellent suggestion! I have a 63 f100 and would probably cry if it were stolen. I love these old trucks!
Who was your Insurance Company? Did you have "stated value" coverage on your truck? My '65 F100 is insured for $9500.00. All I had to have was an appraisel from an idependant car appraiser. My truck is insured through J.C.Taylor. $97.00 per year!

Sorry to hear about the stolen63 and the $800 slap in the face. I ran into the phrase "actual cash value of the vehicle" when someone hit my 66 slick. I had to settle for $900 to fix her. Lucky I already had a replacement grille and valance. Spent that whole 900 + cash out of pocket. Are you going to try to find another 61-66? Did you have antique insurance or everyday insurance?

I have used them for my truck for two plus years. Fortunately, I have no idea how they are when it comes to paying a claim. I hope it stays that way

"oldschool" Just as it was stated a post or two before, one can have an appraiser give a price and then give that to your insurance agent, I have always done this with "Farmers" here in calif. and they will normaly pay that amount , with depreciation of course! Not sure how it works in other states.
Great thread! This was a great reminder to review my policy and I found a mistake where they didn't place the correct replacement value on my policy so I re-faxed them the appraisal and all is well (at least till claim time)!

you brought up an exelent point, that is to keep up with your appreciation of your car or pick up, the key is how often. I would think about every two or three years. The problem we face is having to fight with these companies as to depreciation value, when in fact these projects almost never depreciate with age if they are an older vehicle. But then there are those who can write the loss off on their taxes.
