lifter or rocker tap
i recently put a used 5.8 in my 89 full size . i also install a crane cam ,roller hyd lifters and roller rockers ....570 lift after following adjment steps per summit and started it up an audible tapping is heard so again i opened it up called crane and followed their setup, started it up and hear the same tapping ,,, they tell me it might be valve to piston clearance but i dont think the tapping is valves hitting pistons (besides they insist the part nu,bers are right for that engine anyway) anyone know proper setup or a place to find it or someone i can call? i am at the end of my rope here

Hopefully others with more experience will chime in, but it would seem more likely to be the rocker arms. With the added lift of the cam, would it at all be possible that you would require stiffer springs?

does it sound like just one tap or 16 taps? when i install new lifters i soak them in oil and pump them up a little before i install them. if valves were hitting pistons it would probably only hit loud once and then the valve would get bent and probably not seat any more. it probably would not hit anymore either.
