I recently traded my 2001 F-350 for the new 2005 F-350. I was very happy with my purchase until I was pulling a loaded trailer and the trailer brakes would not engage. I immediately took the trailer to the shop. Trailer is working properly, so I decided it must be the truck. The local dealership can find nothing wrong with the truck. I hooked the truck up to a brand new trailer and still have the same problem. Any suggestions? I'm getting the complete run around at the dealership. They think I'm the problem. Thanks.
just another thought
I was just reading thru myowners manual on how to use the tow command
system--it has listed a couple differents types of trailer braking systems
that tow command does NOT work with
check that out also
I towed for the 1st time today with 05 tow command
it work flawless and I really like it--very smooth
when I had the hitch moved from the 03 to the 05 the dealer only had bad comments about the Ford Controller,, guess he knew it was going to hit his pocket book eventually,,
Hey folks ---- has anyone hooked up to their fiver and tried to test to see if the pin/hitch was connected using the manual lever on the new IBC to put the trailer brakes on and then try and move the truck forward slowly???? I am still waiting for my new '350 but am hearing from others that they haven't been able to get full amps on the IBC when stopped and testing the hitch hookup! Would like to hear what you found when you tested..
When applying the truck brakes, a test light indicates current in all of the plug connectors except the two prongs that control trailer brakes. I've checked all fuses associated with the IBC. All those check fine. I'm guessing it has to be the plug on the truck. A connection has been lost somewhere, but shouldn't the dealership be able to figure this out?
