I'm in the process of purchasing a new F250 Super Duty, S/C, short box, 4X4, diesel, comes with 16" wheels and new tires, and I am keeping the tires from my 02 F150 cause they are Goodyear MT/Rs and only have 5,000 kms on them. I need to get another set of wheels to mount them on, so I have quick change tires and wheels for bush/dirt/mud/winter and highway/towing/regular driving. Soooo, which years fit the 2004s? Is it just 1999 to 2004, or do about all eight lug wheels since 1987 pretty much fit? If the older ones fit, I would much prefer the old, just plain steel rims for my MT/Rs as they go some places that nice rims should not go. Also, I'm in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, so anybody within shipping distance and not a lot of money who has some wheels they want to part with, post back. Maybe we can work a deal. I say not a lot of money, cause damn these things cost a lot up here. Guess I will have to change sections in the forum too, huh?
Yup, 99-04 are all that fits. 97 and older are 8x6.5" bolt pattern, same as current Chevs and Dodges, and just about everything 8 lug for the last 40 years....
I see the XL steelies like my 00 has on it(was a bush truck...) on E-Bay now and then fairly cheap.
Yeah, I kinda thought that it would be like that. There are mucho wheels available at the wreckers for the earlier models. Well, I just may have to bite a bullet, and get some really fancy wheels for summer/highway etc, and put the MT/Rs on the stock chromed wheels that come with the truck. Now wouldn't that be a hardship.
I'll trade ya my XL steelies for those stockers... LOL
The bush guys have large amounts of problems with the aluminums up here... the centers part ways with them...
Hence my truck having the grey steelies on it... ah well.
The wheels that are coming on this truck, as it is an XLT, are chromed steel. If they are like the wheels on my 7700 model F150, then that means they have chromed tin covers permanantly attached to steel wheels. It would be the plastic centers that go away in the bush, right? With my 7700, I remove them when I am going bushing. Anyway, I have found three argent painted steel wheels to fit, from a 2003 XL that was in an accident. One was destroyed, and they already sold the tires. With my spare, this should take care of it. Then when running the highway tires, I will carry an MT/r for a spare, and when running the MT/Rs, I will carry an AT/R for a spare, as that is what is stock.
You have the same wheels my buddy has on his 01. The bush guys don't have problems with them. And, yes, they are the same idea as the wheels on your F150.
My truck had the aluminum wheels, the center of the wheel actually breaks out of them... I still have the chromed plastic center caps though... LOL
Well, if that is the same wheels as I have on my 7700 (but eight instead of seven lug) then I am glad I am getting painted silver (argent) wheels for my MT/Rs, as dirt and mud gets in under the chromed tin thingies and is really a PITA to get out. If left in to dry, it throws the balance off.
