Heater Problems

I have a 79 f150 the blower fan comes on low but quits when you try a higher
speed then comes back on in a little while. Have replaced the switch, checked motor some one said something about a resistor and relay. Need to know wher to look for these. Thanks.

If you follow the wiring from the fan back towards the switch you'll find a spot that it plugs into some little terminals on the heater box under the dash. The resistor is in there, I believe just held in with 2 screws. You can replace the whole thing for a couple bucks.

Hey DAK, I had a similar problem with my '78. There was a big problem with a relay on these. To get to it you'll need to pull out your instument cluster (gauges) and you should see it on the firewall, it is wired in series with your ignition. There are 3 wires going to it, you may have to pull your wiper motor to get to it. You can replace it with a common relay such as a leviton #31-10 available at home depot or lowes in the electrical department.
