speedometer fun

I've just had my cousin from the States on a visit. He was looking over how far I've come restoring my truck the last past 8 years when he exclaimed "boy did these trucks really move that fast?" I really didn't understand what he meant untill I saw what he was looking at. My speedometer is calibrated in Kilometer pr hour so it goes up to 140. I couldn't help but pulling his leg so I said "of course so-thats the way Henry built them" Now I have one really impressed cousin. Just had to share this with you all.

I have a friend who had a 1934 Pontiac that was an export model sent to the Netherlands and was eventually re-inported. We converted it to a street rod. The speedometer was also in kilometers and we used to have a lot of fun with that. As I remember it went up to 160 KPH!

hi vrongpeis. Two steps back one step forward. Just pulled off the whole front and am in the prosess of welding in a Dodge Aspen ( Volare) front. That means boxing the frame back to the cab mounts (= rerouting the brake lines), new motor and auto mounts (= 1" to the left), New shorty headers (=my custom made exhaust system has to be rebuilt) ++, so I'll be back where I started next summer.(non heated garage=freezing cold in the winter) Look at my web page for pics . Hows your truck doing? Erik
