Hey guys,
I have a '99 ford ranger with the 2.5L engine. I changed all the pluggs and wires the other day except for the two in the back on the driver side under the plenum or intake, whatever that thing is. I guess i am goin to remove the intake/plenum/thing, can i reuse the seals that are on it or do i have to replace them? also can anyone tell me how to replace those pluggs without removing it?
thanks
David
PS I would have searched the forum but i couldnt find the search function.
I have a 96 so this may not be accurate, but the way i did it was to use a swivel rachet and a swivel socket just enough to break it loose, then i have a pair of hemestat's (doctor's clamp thing) that are about 18" long, got that at a gunsmith shop. using those i was able to clamp onto the plug and twist it the rest of the way loose and start the new plug in the hole as well, also used them to put the wire back on. Hope that might help you out...
You can get at those two using a combination of ratchets and extensions, but I found it easier just to take off the upper intake manifold. My gaskets didn't get damaged in the process so I reused them.
I would not reuse them, they are not expensive and reusing them may cause trouble in the future. But if your really short on money and don't mind the idea of changing them later go for it.
