Just bought some new Warn premium locking hubs and conversion kit for my '96 Bronco. Is a special tool required for the spindle nuts? Can a spanner wrench be used, or does it require some kind of socket?
It requires a socket. I got one at the local Autozone. But they gave me the wrong one at first, had to go back and exchange it.
Nevertheless it is available and a good tool to have, especially if you ever go in the water, as you will have to get to those bearings to relube after mud runs and water runs.

Do you know anything about the Detroit E-Z locker differential? It sounds interesting in that I could probably install it myself. However I want some that works well if I am going to the trouble of putting it in. In that regard, I'm considering the Auburn limited-slip differential but would probably have to have it installed by a professional.
Yeah, I got the warn premiums on my '79. I am very happy with them. Although I do not believe you have to go as deep as the spindle nut to put them in.
I did the bearings and races while I had the wheel off, thats why I had to go get a spindle nut socket, if your just doing the hub locks I don't think you need it.
Sorry, don't know anything about the Detroit EZ locker.
