Im affraid to ask but

how do I know if my coolent is good for the cold up here in ND? it gets to around -30 ambient

Im afraid to ask cause I bet, my luck bieng, I'd have to change it and its gonna be expensive.

I can already see all the xmas gifts for my family going away just so I can get this thing winter ready.

What I'd do, would be to get some coolant test strips from a vendor like www.dieselpage.com and you'll be able to check the freezing point of your coolant, as well as check for the presence of additive, which prevents cavitation.

Go to any parts store and they should have a coolant tester. It's very easy to do and tells how cold your coolant is good for....

That's true, but doesn't address the issue of DCA levels.
