New starter (DAM!)

I put a new starter in today, and as per usual I always install first then read instructions later, but when I was taking the old starter out the small wire on the starter just kinda fell off, so I put a new end on it and installed the new starter, then when reading the instructions(later) it said that little wire is proned to corrosion, causing the starter not to work sometimes(DAM) probably just need to fix the wire, oh well the old starter was 10 yrs old maybe time for a new one anyway

Keep the old one handy, They don't make 'em like they used to!!
I only get about 2 years out of new starters and about 6 months from remanufactured ones.

i used to get about 3 or 4 years outta new starters, and about 2 outta remans, but since this weekend, i dont know how long they will last, i just put a new motor in the truck, and it is runnin more compression than the starter is intended to turn over. like Popa Tim said, keep the old starter handy, you never know when you will need one for a temprorary fix just for a while till you get the new one!

Popa Tim

I was beginning to think it was me. My '95 is on it's third starter in as many years, and this truck is not my daily driver. Keep ending up with dead spots in the windings.
