I have a 1994 F-150 4x4 Longbox, 300-6. 5spd with 3.55:1 axle ratios
Stock height, My question is, what is the largest tire I can fit without a lift, or Bent arms, or new offset rims? I have stock rims and want to keep them. I am looking at a set of 31x10.50 Thornbirds, and I want to make sure i am not going to end up with rub on the Radius Arm. what would you all reccomend for tire size? I am looking for a tire to "fill the hole" a litle better, as i feel I have too much frame showing around the tires. I also wouldn't mind a little better fuel economy, as the engine is at 2000 RPM at 100Km/h ( about 60 MpH if I figured it out right) I am considering a taller 5th gear, but that's in the future, a I JUST had the transmission rebuilt, and forgot to ask about it. so, Largest tire size on the truck, fitment wise. once I fing the tire size, I can ask around and see if i have a friend with the same size so I can test driveability
thanks,
Dave
I ran 31x10.5 on my 91 4x4 and sometimes got a little rub on the radius arms, but only with the tightest of turns, I think you could run a 32x11.5 if you just remember not to crank it to tight on sharp turns
my 95 150 4x4 has 31x10.5 Cooper sst's and they have NEVER rubbed. It looks like I could go a bit bigger but the lift is coming next and I will want bigger tires then. The 3.55's will handle the 31's but you will lose some "take off" power. You will probably want new gears next.
I think i would be more worried about the power to turn the bigger tire. I will say that 33"s rub very minimally. So 31's you should be fine... Just consider the power to turn those tires.
