body swap

I have a 78 body I would like to put on a 86 frame so it is diesel. My plan was to just swap the motor from the newer truck but the 78 frame is hurting. will the body fit the newer frame? The reason for swaping it the 86 body is shot and I like the older truck style but I also like having diesel. I also like the idea of having a one and only truck in my area. Thanks for the help

Anything can be done with the right equipment. I don't think it would be an easy swap, try doing a search.

its all a matter of time, equipment, money, friend, and dedication.

I had a 86 body on a 75 chassis...that is until a drunk driver totaled her...

so I would say the vice versa is possible. break out the tape measure and the note book... and have a blast... keep it fun ...

i definately think there would be alot of fab work, but nothing too hard. just frame mounts so you can line up the body mounts. after straightening these out, i would think it would be good.
