What model are the factory Rancho Shocks that come on the FX 4 package?
Thinking of replacing all my shocks and steering stabilizer and there are lots of package deals on Ranchos out there. I dont think i want the factory FX 4 shock, Surely they are junk, but what about the RSX or the 5000 Series Rancho shocks are they the same as the factory shock?
I have no clue what model Rancho's come on the FX4's, I would assume they are something cheap like an RS1000. My only dealings with the RS5000's were on an old Bronco I had and they were lumber wagon stiff, which is what these nose heavy PSD's need, so they may work ok. I had a set of RSX's on this truck but I won't make that mistake again, could not tell the difference between brand new RSX's and the factory junk. Currently running Bilstein 5100's, very happy with them and they were a bit less $$$ than the RSX.

Cookie is right - don't bother with the FX4 Rancho shocks - they are nothin' special. On the other hand - I have Rancho RSX's on my truck front and back and I like 'em just fine - but that's just me. My stock shocks were ALL leaking when I replaced them - so maybe that's why the RSX seemed good to me.

Not to worry,, wasnt planning on the factory Ranchos,, just wanted to make sure if i went with the rsx or the 5000's i wasnt getting the same as the FX4's come with.Have to admit the red shocks were attractive since my truck is also red. Bilsteins seem like the logical choice after all the great reviews i've seen. Thanx for the input guys.
I just put on RSX last week, I like them. Similar to stock ride, but I noticed that they are less bouncy and the truck handles a little better around turns. Its all about what you like. Personally I like the factory ride of my truck and didn't really want to change it.
