Tried to replace the fuel filter on my 02 3.0L this past weekend. Couldn't get the darned thing off. I've got the disconnect tool (plastic one from Lisle), but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly. How hard should I have to push to get the hose off? Also, it'll fit on the inlet hose, but doesn't seem to be enough space on the outlet hoses.
While doing this I noticed that the underside of my truck is greasy, apparently from fluid getting past the rear seal on the tranny. There was a noticeable glisten at that seal. Is this normal or should I get it over to the local dealer for warranty work?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Jan-03 AT 09:03 AM (EST)]If you have the newer fuel filter with the 3 hoses attached then you don't need any special tool. Take a small flat tip screw driver and pop the clips off and pull the hoses off. That's all I do......
If you have any type of leakage take it in before your warranty is up.
