At a half tank, I have 20 gallons left in my tank. At a quarter tank I have 10 gallons left. I also have the 30 Gallon tank...go figure.

I also have a Screw and when the message first says "low fuel" there are 7 gallons left. The manual says the low fuel warning comes on when you have about 50 miles left on a tank of gas- I don't think the computer can divide very well. Its crazy to have a low fuel warning when you have a 1/4 tank of gas left- every other car I have owned with a low fuel warning usually came on when there were 3 gallons left. I just go by the mileage- my truck gets the milage advertised- 14 in the city and 18 on the highway. The message center says I'm getting 13.8 mpg so I don't know why the low fuel message comes on at 7 gallons. Got to be a software bug.

I have the same truck, and that's about the same time my fuel light comes on.

I was 26 miles from home yesterday when my fuel light went on and then chimed. When I got home I filled up with 23.8 gallons and I have a 27 gal tank. I assume I burned about 2 gallons from the point my light came on. I got around 14.7 mpg on that tank. If I figured everything right I had anywhere from 5 to 7 gal left after the light came on.

Guess you just have to know your truck. Mine will go about 35 miles after the low fuel warning, about 2.5 gallons left. It has been pretty consistent.

I have a 2004 4X2 Lariat. I too wonder about how big the so called 30 gal tank really is. My low fuel chime comes on at 50 MTE and I have driven it to 2 MTE. When I filled up it only took 24.8 gallons. I have thought about putting my 5 gal can in the back and driving it until it runs out, but I sure hate to run it to empty. That said, i think there is a 5 gal reserve.

Don't forget that is just the computer making an estimate. I had an 1/8 of a tank left this morning (My wife always leaves it on empty for me-"Love you too, sweet thang!") and it took 22 gallons...8 gallons left at 1/8 of a tank.
