I have a 1991 F150 2wd.
Two clutches in six months, 7000 miles. Now gone again.
Have a 5-speed overdrive. Salesman says it is my fault and won't stand behind clutch. I had to pay for over half of the second one. Been almost the same time and mileage between failures? Any ideas? Supposedly all new parts both times.
Thanks
I would have them check to see if the slave cylinder is leaking. My slave cylinder was leaking and about 6-8 months later I am experiencing the same problems. They did say that my clutch pad it fine. One question, have you felt a less than smooth shift between gears sometimes?
How would the leaking slave cylinder cause this, does itnot let the clutch fully engage and cause excessive wear? I'm not sure how this clutch works with the slave cylinder being in the bell housing. I'm used to the fork sticking out the side.
No I'm not sure if is the master cylinder or slave. The truck just stops moving. The first time they took it apart and said the clutch was burned up. This time no one has touched it yet. I was wondering if anybody else had this problem with so few miles on clutch.Up till the time the truck stop moving there is no warning of problems, it just stopped. Some burning smell then and only then.
Thanks
change your slave cylinder, make sure you bleed it the way the instructions say. my buddy went through 3 clutches before he would listen to me, now he hasnt had a problem with it
well my Buddy's slave didn't leak a drop of fluid, and it was still weak.
if your gonna go through all the trouble tearing it a part and putting a new clutch/pressure plate and so on in, why not go the extra step to ensure everything is right and just change the slave cylinder while your in it.
I Have A 96 150 That I Have Beat The Crap Out Of. 206000 And Have Had 2 New Clutches And Master Cylinders. It Sounds Like Your Mechanic Scammed You Or Did A Bad Job. I Would Require Them To Fix It Or Else. We Live With A Crappy Clutch Design So They Should Have To Fix It Correctly
