Replaced my cam positioning sensor today in my 2001 f-250 crew cab, read the write up in tech articles, very helpful, took me about a 1/2 hour, i found it easier to just crawl under and take it out. the good news was that before i started this i called around to find a sensor, advanced auto no, called ford dealer $183.00 !!! wow, was ready to bite bullet and go and get it from ford, but called a local tractor/equipment dealer , asked if they were international dealer and they were but no truck parts, but was able to tell me where a international truck dealer was located (close by too) called them , $96.00, went and picked it up and put her in, the package it came in had both the internal & ford part # on it,,oh yeah solved my problem too.. prob was, truck just started acting like it had bad diesel or plugged fuel filter replaced fuel and cleaned k'n air filter , still had prob, read somewhere here that cps might be the prob. it was ...CHECK YOUR INTERNATIONAL DEALER , YELLOW PAGES TRUCK..
My son was going on a long trip last weekend and with 125k+ miles on the truck, I was worried about the cps. I checked with Ford and the local IH truck dealer and the price for the cps was only a few dollars different. Both were around $190. I wonder if the IH dealer here is catching on and making some extra income?

Well that blows! I'll have to get down to Husky and buy another one before they go up there as well.
NOPE,
driving down the road and it would just start running horrible, like it was out of gas , or plugged fuel filter or bad diesel, SES light came on but no code, its one of those that has to doit again, and after the truck died and when restarted the ses light wasn't on,, when light did come on it was on constant no flashing
My f350 died this past week and they thought it was the fuel filter at first and theycharged me $140 to change it, well it died the next day again and this time it gave a code for a defective throttle position sensor, which they changed ($280) and everything has been fine since. Need to find out how to change the fuel filter and where to get them cheaper. I have a f350 super duty diesel. Mike
my 250 acted like a faulty fuel filter or contaminated diesel, but after changing ( 25.00 @ Pep Boys) its located on my 2001 f250 just past the fan and under a plastic sheild, easy to change..as far as other parts i have learned to check the local international truck dealer first (big difference on the cam pos sensor ,,ford dealer 183.00 and international 97.00 almost 50% less and the bag and tag on it had both a international and ford part#, same part)hopes this helps
They already replaced the sensor, I am looking for the fuel filter for a 1999 ford f350 diesel though, I proably should keep a couple of them for spares. Can anyone tell me how often this filter should be changed and the proper procedure for doing that ? Thank you !
Mike
