1st Powerstroke. Which Mods First?
I just perchased my first Powerstroke. It is a 2002 7.3 liter Excursion, and I love it, but being a hot rodder at heart, I cannot leave it stock.
I was wondering which mods everyone would do first to gain more power?
Imagine that you had $1000 dollars to spend, and a stock motor. What would give the most bang for the buck?
My friend recommends an airfilter upgrade, a down pipe, and a programmer. What do you guys think? Which air filter, pipe, and programmer?
Anyone else have ideas? What about the Racor crank case breather? Seems to be a lot of oil in the intercooler.
Which mods have you been best pleased with?
Any advice appreciated.

tuner plenty extra power. You can make yur own intake go to napa & get a part #
6637 air filter it lets in plenty air I have one myself. You can just add a straight pipe
or a 4'' downpipe & straight pipe or 4'' exhaust all the way, I personally wouldnt do
anything else but straight pipe. But really theres so many chips tuners & modules
you just have to pick which one u like best. If you plan on rolling big power you
will probably need 4'' exhaust from the turbo back. But keep in mind the less backpressure you have the higher up you move yur torque powerband. Oh & my mods
are a filter like i told u about, a bully dog shift kit, a sp diesel module, & autometer
gauges.
Once you've got the gauges, intake, and exhaust done, you need to decide what you want/expect from the truck. If you're going to be striving for maximum output, you'll probably be happier in the long run with a good chip. Tuners have their place, and many have the capability of scanning for trouble codes, but they can't match a custom burned chip for power, especially in the higher settings.
