Just had mine Pro built (E4OD) by a local tranny builder for the Lightning crowd. It now has all the goodies, plus the Transgo Tugger kit, pump mods and a Precision Ind. triple disk torque convertor.
I plan on getting some chip programming soon (none at the moment) which will help give me some better shift parameters, but it sure shifts nice with my current mods.
With all the problems I've read on here with automatics, I think it's the one of best choices I've made. I can replace the clutch 2 more times and come out even with what the auto would've cost in the first place.....not to mention potentially expensive repairs along the way. Plus, I admit it - I'm a control freak!! I decide when my truck shifts! LOL
Mine is an automatic, but FAR from tragic! You can build the auto transmissions to be strong enough to handle 600 HP quite easily these days, as the parts available to do so are easily attainable now.
Mine has been built this way, and I have one of the strongest torque convertors you can buy...so there is nothing tragic about it! Shifts are quick and strong, and shift parameters are available within a chip these days...so you then have the best of all worlds!
All day long city driving and doing landscraping...I like the automatic. And after rebuilding my V10's tranny it drives like a beast again! What's $2500.00 these days! Yep, I am nutz.
I bought the Auto cause I will be hauling a trailer around the Atlanta area for my business and did not want to deal with the hassle of shifting and playing with a clutch. Not that I dont like manuals, (had several vheicles that were manuals before this truck) but not my choice for daily towing. Im not too worried about it failing cause I have the ability to rebuild/repair it myself.
Old knee is starting to work on me from pushin that big clutch in.
Just wonder. Is it machanically possible to build the big clutch lighter in the factory or aftermarket? I'm a small guy with weak knees. Also my wife would love to drive my big toy if she can manage the klutch. Erwin
Well, when I say "big clutch", i just said that cause it is a big truck! I have a stock clutch. My wife hates to drive it, cause she has to push the clutch in with both feet.
