I got my 86 Bronco 2.. just replaced the clutch about 3 weeks ago.
Now, I'm having problems with it.. My dad believes it's the clutch master cylinder, but I thought maybe I could get some help here.
Sometimes, it'll stick in a gear. Usually first gear. When I'm trying to take off, it'll be in first gear fine, but when I try to shift, it will not come out of gear.
Also, sometimes if I'm stopped, and cannot take it out of gear, if I let off the break, it'll roll forward, and it feels like it's pulling itself forward.
My dad figures that there's not enough pressure to disengage the clutch... Anybody have any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeremy
It does sound like one of the cylinders provided it pulls forward with the pedal down and in gear. You can try to rebleed the system,it takes a while to get all the air out. It's a far shot, but I usually all ways figure on the worst, but did you put the disc in backwards, which should've made some bad noises from the get go ? The flat side goes against the flywheel, the hub side towards the trans. It probably is just the hydraulics, so work that out first.

It was working fine.. plus, it's been sticking in gear since I got the truck, and just pregressively getting worse.
We also tried bleeding it, and that didn't help, that's why we figured a cylinder.
And we figured it out to NOT be the master cylinder. It went in fine, and still same problems. Tried bleeding some more, and no go.
So, now we gotta drop the transmission and replace the slave cylinder.
I just hope to hell that's the problem, cuz I don't got the money to take it to a repair tech.
Thanks for the help,
Jeremy
Ok. We've replaced the Master Cylinder and Slave cylinder now. We've bled it a lot.
And we're still having the same problem.
When I let off the clutch just a hair, and put it back in, the clutch does not disengage, so it moves forward. It also sticks in gear.
Any ideas, please?
I'm running out of money and ideas to get it running.
There are some things that can cause your clutch to drag. thats the good news. the bad news is you have to remove the trans,Sorry. The clutch disc maybe the wrong one. This is most likey not the problem. You need to check how far the slave cylinder moves. But this shouldn't be the problem.
The place I would look is the spline on the input shaft if the disc sticks on the spline this can cause your problem.Another place I would look is the pressure plate.Compare it to another plate at the parts store if yours is a rebuilt plate it may not be to spec.THE PLATE IS MOST LIKEY YOUR PROBLEM.
After taking out the tranny a couple more times, and calling Ford Tech and getting no where, it was the master cylinder. The one we just put it. Well, it was actually the slave cylinder that was bad, and the master cylinder was a bad one or something.
We got the new slave cylinder in, and the old master cylinder, and it works like a charm!
The gears don't even growl as much.
Thanks for all the help,
Jeremy
