dumb c6 question

since i lost my old password and had to get a new screen name i cant search the forums until i post some and i need some specific info on changing the tranny fluid in my c6

i need to know how many quarts of fluid?

i think i will stick with type F unless yall think i should go with a newer fluid?

i have a external cooler and i was wondering if that would be the best way to change the fluid in the torque converter? which line is the return line?

i think i should drop the pan and check for metal shavings other than replacing the gasket is there anything else i should change?

should i use a specific type of sealant on the gasket?

i would greatly appreciate someone answering these questions and/or linking me to a good thread

A local transmission shop suggested going to mercon trans fluid it builds up pressure easier than type F.

If you can find it that way or you can go the other way. By the way a fliud change is usualy 10 quarts some times more.
