My new 05 should arrive in the next couple of weeks, and I need a source for a screen to protect the front of my truck. More specifically, to protect the intercooler. On my 03, approx. 50% of the intercooler fins are bent over from being struck by bugs, rocks, whatever. I would like to protect this if possible. Does anyone have a source for this type of protection?
Home Depot. In the concrete section they have rolls of metal mesh that look like they are chrome. I think it was 12 bucks for a 10 foot roll of the 12inch one. It works good and I think it looks good.
Just take off your grill and zip tie to the backside and trim to fit. I have an aftermarket grill so it was easier to do it to that then when I did it to the factory grill.
Hey jfralph: Get a Toyota Pirus and stick it to the front bumper. Then you can check to see how many bugs per gallon it gets and protect your fins at the same time.
How about vinyl screen door material from home depot.....
and it does come in colors too
or is that too tight a mesh that it would limit air flow ????
Thats what I was looking for when I went to home depot. But I realized it would be hard to attach to anything since it is soft and flexible. The stuff I stumbled across is like working with aluminum foil, you wrap it and bend it and it stays in place. I don't know what it is supposed to be for, but it keeps the gravel out of my radiator.
One of my friend got a screen that has snaps that you stick on the grille then the screen snaps on. It looks real nice plus it's easy to remove and clean.
