I have a 7.3 so I'm not really up to date with all of the problems early 6.0s had. I'm just aware that there were problems and that they included the injectors. Anyway......
My mom has a friend with a 2003 6.0. She's had a lot of problems and is looking to trade up to a 2004. My question is this - if I were to buy the truck and replace all of the injectors, would that solve any problems the early 6.0s had or are there other problem areas?

Well there is no way to really say that replacing the injectors will solve all the problems that could potentially arise. It seems since they turned off P.I. the injectors are doing just fine. There are some other issues like wire chafe, MAP, EBP, IPC, that could possibly be causing her problems. Without knowing what is going on with her truck, it's hard to say what is wrong with it. If you can give us more info on what is wrong with her truck we might be able to narrow the possible problems. It seems like most of the bugs now have a fix. I personally haven't had any problems with my 2003 6.0 (jan 2003 build date). As far as the injectors. They are much more expensive than the injectors for the 7.3. If i remember right the c95 injectors are about $300 a piece. Anyone know if that's right or not? Which again, you may not need. Just give us more info on the truck.
Get the vin and someone can look up what FORD says has been done to it....
and if you're gonna get it, try to do it before it goes to the dealer.... or at least work with her to know the price and work with the dealer so there's not too much markup....
but again... why the trade in of a new truck ???? very curious I am
Take this how you like, but mine is an early 03, although it came with the c95 injectors. after 27 trips to the dealership, they seem to have gotten a handle on it. It required replacing sensors and a control module at the same time, even though the codes indicated no such problem. The techs theory was the sensor and the module were within specs, but each was on the opposite end of the spectrum, thus causing problems with the truck. Litterally destroying other parts due to their incompatability. Since then, my truck was run flawlessly. Pryor to that, I was in the shop every couple of hundred miles, I now have over 4000 miles on it without any problems. I wouldn't doubt if similiar conditions are at the root of a lot of the early 6.0 problems.

Umm I'm sorry.. That's a lot of trips.. But at least they got it fixed.
I had an 03, Jan 2003 build date and it had alot of problems starting with one injector going bad @ 928 miles. Then I had the wiring harness chaeff and that fried the FICM. And on and on, anyways it got traded on an 04 since I lost the DSB. Do your research and you can't go wrong. I was just unlucky and got one of the few bad apples. Fords are wonderful and I will not own anything but FORD!!!!!!
