99 Ranger Auto Trans help
99 Ranger 3.0 4wd Auto, transmission has been acting up. Sometimes long drawn out mushy shifts, sometimes high rpm (3500 rpm) hard shifts. Started doing this Saturday (Oct 9th). Does not matter if OD is on or off. At highway speed (about 60) if I force downshift, the trans will slip and actually hit the rev limiter. At times when accellerating (like up hill) it feels like the torque convertor is not multiplying. Fluid has about 6000 miles on it and looks clean. Shifts like vacuum hose is leaking at modulator, I need to look, but I do not believe it has one. The check engine or OD lights have not flashed or come on either. Anyone have ideas? I am thinking, shift solenoid or valve body problem.
